Advancing Treatment for Pancreatitis:
A Prospective Observational Study of TPIAT (POST)
Who we are: A collaboration of multiple centers, physicians, and islet isolation scientists in the U.S. working together to advance the field of total pancreatectomy and islet autotransplantation (TPIAT) as a treatment for recurrent acute and chronic pancreatitis.
What we do: We collect detailed information from the medical records and from patients undergoing TPIAT as part of a multicenter research study. We will use this information to improve TPIAT care. Our aims are to determine what factors will be result in the best TPIAT outcomes for pain relief, quality of life, and diabetes remission; and to demonstrate cost-effectiveness of TPIAT.
Who we work with: Patients who are undergoing TPIAT for treatment of chronic pancreatitis or recurrent acute pancreatitis are invited to participate in this study. Study participants are a critical part of our team. Study participants contribute by consenting to collection of data and by providing feedback on health and medications through brief oral interviews and completing surveys. All study follow up can be completed remotely (through telephone and mail) for convenience.
